Jalandhar: Police arrested two people in an extortion case.

Jalandhar: Goraya police have cracked a case of extortion involving threats made from foreign phone numbers, arresting two accomplices, while the main accused is reportedly abroad. The case was registered on the complaint of Harmanjot Singh of Jajja Kalan village, who runs “Burger Shurger” on the Goraya-Phagwara road.
He reported receiving threatening calls on WhatsApp from foreign numbers since January 22, 2026, demanding Rs 20 lakh. DSP Bharat Masih said that a case was registered at Goraya police station under sections 308(5) and 351(3) of the BNS and the Arms Act. Parasjit of Nurmahal was arrested on January 28, followed by the arrest of Pranjit Singh of Jajja Kalan. The mastermind, identified as Henry, is reportedly hiding in South Africa and is currently absconding.
