Jalandhar: Petroleum Board and Indian Navy teams reach semi-finals of Bhulath Hockey Cup.

Jalandhar: The teams representing the Petroleum Sports Control Board (Mumbai) and the Indian Navy (Mumbai) have secured their spots in the semi-finals of the 2026 Bholaath Hockey Cup by winning their respective matches. On the opening day of the country’s largest prize-money tournament—being held at the Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium in Jalandhar—Mohanbir Bal, Gurjit Singh Patti (Australia), Parminder Sandhu, and their teammates competed in the quarter-final matches. Girls’ matches are also scheduled to take place on Saturday.
In the first quarter-final, the Indian Navy (Mumbai) defeated Punjab & Sind Bank (Delhi) by a margin of 3-2. For the Indian Navy, goals were scored by Silvaraj in the 4th minute, Sushil Dhanwar in the 49th minute, and Yogesh Singh in the 56th minute. Meanwhile, for Punjab & Sind Bank, Sukhwinder Singh scored in the 17th minute and Charanjit Singh in the 60th minute. Silvaraj of the Indian Navy was awarded a cash prize of ₹50,000, as was Sukhwinder Singh of Punjab & Sind Bank.
In the second quarter-final, the Petroleum Sports Control Board (Mumbai) defeated CAG (Delhi) by a margin of 2-1. For the Petroleum team, Sumit Kumar scored in the 7th minute and Gurjinder Singh in the 60th minute, while Manjeet scored for CAG (Delhi) in the 35th minute. The Petroleum Board team was awarded a cash prize of ₹50,000 for this victory. The Bholaath Hockey Cup was inaugurated by Nitin Kohli, President of Hockey Punjab.
