Jalandhar: One person died, four injured in Bisht Doab Canal bridge accident

Jalandhar: A tipper truck and a car collided on the Bist Doab Canal bridge near Kotfatuhi station on the Mahilpur-Phagwara road around 5 a.m. on Sunday. Five people in the car were seriously injured, one of whom later died during treatment. The deceased was identified as Sukhwinder Singh, a resident of Bhawanipur village under the jurisdiction of the Garhshankar police station. The tipper driver fled the scene.
Police from the Mahilpur police station have taken possession of the injured, the vehicles involved, and the body of the deceased and have initiated further investigation. According to eyewitnesses, the tipper truck was heading from Bahram to Mahilpur, while the car, driven by Ajay Khepad of the Beet area of Bhawanipur, was heading to Garhshankar to drop his uncle, Binder Pal, at the Amritsar airport. The car occupants, Ajay Khepad, his uncle Binder Pal, friend Sukhwinder Singh, 13-year-old Krishna (uncle’s son), all residents of Bhawanipur, and Parminder Singh, a resident of Hajipur, were all seriously injured in the accident.
