Jalandhar: One person arrested with stolen cable

Hoshiarpur: Sadar police have arrested a person with stolen cables. Jaswant Singh of Mahitpur told police that thieves had stolen motor wires from his village. Police arrested one suspect with the help of villagers, while his two accomplices managed to escape. Police said the arrested suspect has been identified as Kishan Kumar of Phagwara. Police said the stolen cables and cutting tools were recovered from the storage compartment of the suspect’s two-wheeler. Police said a case has been registered in this regard and investigation has been started.
Two mobile phones recovered from jail
Hoshiarpur: Central Jail administration has recovered two mobile phones during a search operation in the jail premises. After receiving a complaint, police have registered two cases in this regard. Assistant Superintendent of Central Jail Sukhwinder Ram said that during the search operation, a touch screen mobile phone hidden in the ground of Block No. 13 was recovered. In another incident, Assistant Superintendent Kulwinder Singh said that during a surprise inspection, a battery and keypad mobile phone were recovered from a dustbin in Block No. 22. The police have registered a case and started investigating the matter.

Smuggler arrested with 132 pills

PHAGWARA: The Nurmahal police arrested a drug smuggler on Friday night and recovered 132 narcotic pills from his possession. Nakodar DSP Sukhpal Singh said that the arrested suspect has been identified as Jarnail alias Jaila resident of Jagir village. In this regard, a case has been registered against the suspect under the NDPS Act.

PHAGWARA: The Mehatpur police have arrested a person for encroaching on panchayat land in Baghela village. Investigating Officer (IO) Balkar Singh said that the suspect has been identified as Hansa Singh of Dharme Diyan Chhana village. The District Development and Panchayat Officer and the Panchayat of Baghela village had complained to the Jalandhar (rural) SSP that the suspect had encroached upon panchayat land in the village. The investigating officer said that a case was registered against the suspect and others in April 2022 under Section 13-A of the Punjab Village Common Lands (Regulation) Act, 1961.

Man arrested for firing shot

PHAGWARA: Shahkot police have arrested a Jalandhar resident for firing shot and endangering life. Investigating officer (IO) Nirmal Singh said that the suspect has been identified as Manish Kumar alias Manni Mithapurai, a resident of Arora Colony, Jalandhar city. Arun Kumar, a resident of Kangna village, had complained to the police that the suspect had endangered his life by firing shot at the main gate of his uncle’s house on the night of August 29. The investigating officer said that a case has been registered against the suspect under Section 125 of BNS and Sections 25, 27, 54 and 59 of Arms Act.

3 booked for theft
Phagwara: Nakodar Sadar has booked three persons for allegedly stealing diamonds, gold and silver jewellery and cash from a house. Investigating officer Loveleen Kumar said the suspects have been identified as Gurchetan Singh, Kuldeep Singh and Surjit Singh. All of them are residents of Patti Purewal in Shahkar village. Ram Prakash of the same village told the police that the suspects stole jewellery and cash from his house. A case has been registered against the three suspects.
Bike, scooter stolen
Phagwara: A bike with registration number Punjab-09AB-1411 parked near a convent school was stolen. Bike owner Jashanpreet, a resident of Thakarki village, told the police that he had parked the bike and went inside the school. He told that when he came out of the school, he found that his bike was stolen. In another incident, an Activa scooter was stolen from Eastwood village in Phagwara. Scooter owner Naresh told police that he along with his wife had parked their Activa in the parking lot and had gone to a food shop in Eastwood village. He said that when they came out, their bike was missing from the parking lot. Police have registered two cases.

Man hit by train

Phagwara: A middle-aged man was hit by a train near Phagwara railway station on Friday night. Government Railway Police said that the deceased has been identified as Lovepreet of Baba Gadhiya Mohalla in Phagwara. The body of the deceased was handed over to his family after post-mortem.
