Jalandhar: Nagar Kirtan is a symbol of the birthday of Guru Gobind Singh
Jalandhar: Even the cold weather was no deterrent for hundreds of devotees who participated in the Nagar Kirtan organised on Thursday to mark the birth anniversary of the 10th Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh. The Nagar Kirtan started from Gurdwara Guru Singh Sabha in Mohalla Gobindgarh and concluded in the evening at Gurdwara Diwan Sthan in Central Town. The Nagar Kirtan passed through PCM SD College, Railway Road, Mandi Fentonganj, Central Town, Milap Chowk, Phagwara Gate, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk, Panj Peer Chowk, Khingra Gate, Mai Heeran Gate, Patel Chowk, Purani Jail Chowk and Rainak Bazar areas. Devotees washed the entire route with water as the decorated palanquin of Guru Granth Sahib passed by. The Panj Pyaras led the Nagar Kirtan in traditional attire. The display of Sikh martial art Gatka by the Nihang Jatha drew a lot of attention.
