Jalandhar: Kapurthala Heritage Festival begins

Jalandhar: Kapurthala Heritage Festival 2025 kicked off with great pomp at the local Guru Nanak Stadium. Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Panchal inaugurated the festival by lighting the lamp. He said that the festival organized by the government with the aim of showcasing the rich heritage of the state will prove to be a guide. He further said that special efforts will be made to develop Kapurthala, famous as the “Paris of Punjab”, as a tourist hub. During the Heritage Festival, renowned singers Mohammad Irshad and Meet Kaur showcased their artistic talent.

Through their Sufi singing, both the artists mesmerized the audience. Earlier, a documentary film highlighting the heritage of Kapurthala was screened, which was enthusiastically appreciated by the audience. In the cultural programme during the day, students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Masitan and Lyallpur Khalsa College presented various aspects of cultural diversity. Apart from this, Dhadhi Jatha led by Gurjeet Singh also performed. On this occasion, District Planning Board Chairperson Lalit Saklani, ADC Phagwara Dr. Akshita Gupta, ADC Navneet Kaur Bal, ADC Development Varinderpal Singh Bajwa, Science and Technology Board Member Kanwar Iqbal Singh, Joint Secretary Parwinder Singh Dhot and a large number of spectators were present.
