Jalandhar: Girl riding a scooter was hit by a truck and seriously injured.

Jalandhar: A shocking road accident at the busy Chandigarh Chowk in Mahilpur on Thursday morning left a young woman critically injured after a gravel-laden truck hit her while she was riding an Activa.
The incident occurred around 10 a.m. when the truck hit the Activa, causing the girl to fall and her legs to come under the truck’s wheels, resulting in severe injuries to both legs. The accident triggered panic at the spot, with bystanders rushing to help the victim.
People present in the market immediately shifted the injured girl to the Civil Hospital, Mahilpur. Considering her critical condition, doctors referred her to the PGI-Chandigarh for advanced treatment.
According to available information, the injured has been identified as 25-year-old Lakhwinder Kaur, daughter of Jasvir Singh, a resident of village Mehmadwal under Chabbewal police station. She was riding her Activa (PB-07-AK-1330) and was waiting at Chandigarh Chowk to head towards Phagwara Road when a gravel-loaded truck (PB-07-AS-9960), coming from the Hoshiarpur side, hit her.
The Mahilpur police reached the spot soon after the incident, took the truck and its driver into custody, and initiated an investigation into the matter. The incident has again raised serious concerns over reckless driving and the movement of heavy vehicles in crowded market areas.
