Jalandhar: Duplicate Harpic seized, one arrested

Phagwara: Police has arrested a shopkeeper named Deepak Sachdeva, resident of Nangal Khera village, under Section 63 of the Copyright Act for selling duplicate Harpic. Police has recovered 258 bottles of duplicate Harpic from Sachdeva’s shop and has started investigating the matter.

Case registered against two for fraud

Phagwara: On the complaint of Shiv Nando, resident of Omkar Nagar, police has registered a case against a couple for cheating him of Rs 12,39,490 in the name of sending him abroad. The victim told the police that the suspects have been identified as Amritpal Singh Lalka and his wife Kuldeep Kaur, who took this amount from him in the name of sending him abroad. He told that despite repeated requests, both of them neither sent him abroad nor returned his money. No arrest has been made in this regard so far.

Gold chain snatched
Phagwara: On Thursday, two unidentified masked youths on a motorcycle snatched a gold chain from a woman named Paramjit Kaur in Scheme Number 3, Phagwara. After committing the crime, the snatchers managed to escape. Police have registered a case in this regard. No arrest has been made so far.
One person attacked, case registered against four
Phagwara: On Thursday night, four youths attacked Ashu Mishra, a resident of Khera Road, and injured him. The injured were admitted to the local civil hospital, where they said that the youths have been identified as Puran, Bhupinder, Kaku and Rahul, residents of Khera Road. Police said that there was a personal rivalry behind the attack. A case has been registered against four suspects, who are still absconding.
Husband booked for torturing wife
Phagwara: On a complaint by Seema Devi, a resident of Dharamkot in Phagwara, police have registered a case against her husband Amritpal Lalka, a resident of Khanna, for physically and mentally torturing his wife and driving her out of the house along with her one-month-old child. The victim told police that even after her parents paid Rs 9 lakh, her husband was demanding more dowry. Police are investigating the matter. No arrest has been made so far.
3 drug smugglers arrested
Hoshiarpur: Police have arrested three smugglers from different places and recovered drugs from them. According to information, police arrested two suspects hiding in bushes near Dhobi Ghat and recovered 174 grams of narcotic powder from them. The arrested suspects have been identified as Kamaljit Singh, a resident of Jagatpura, and Sanjay Kumar, a resident of Sheesh Mahal Bazaar. In another incident, Haryana Police arrested Sukhvir Singh alias Kala of Kothe village and recovered 61 grams of narcotic powder from him.
