An FIR has been registered at New Baradari police station in Jalandhar under Section 25/54/59 of Arms Act and Section 29/22-61-85 of NDPS Act. Police have seized 100 grams of heroin, a 32 bore pistol, two live cartridges, 1,06,860 intoxicant tablets, 4,320 capsules and a car. Giving details of the operation in a press conference, Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma said that the arrests were made based on a tip-off. Jagroop Singh and Bhavjot Singh, who were involved in selling illegal weapons, were apprehended near the accounts office in Railway Colony Jalandhar, where 100 grams of heroin was recovered from their car.

Jagroop Singh confessed the involvement of Ravinder Singh and Anil Gupta, who were later arrested. Interrogation of Ravinder Singh led to the arrest of Bikramjit Singh and more than 1,00,000 narcotic pills and 4,320 capsules were recovered from him. Lister, Bikramjit Singh’s links with Tarsem Singh and Sumit Chole were exposed, leading to their arrest. Based on further confessions, Pratap Singh was also arrested, from whom 6,400 additional narcotic pills were recovered. Swapan Sharma said that initial investigation revealed that the drugs were manufactured in Gujarat and distributed to wholesale drug dealers in Agra, who were also implicated in the case. The drugs were sent to Amritsar through courier services, evidence of which suggests international distribution of drugs as well. He said further investigation is underway.
