Jalandhar: DC inspected flood affected areas
Jalandhar: After waterlogging spelt chaos on city roads, the District Administration, led by DC Dr Himanshu Aggarwal, conducted an extensive inspection across the city to assess waterlogging issues.
Dr Aggarwal visited Nakodar Road, Kapurthala Road, HMV College Road and Mahavir Marg, issuing on-the-spot directives to Jalandhar Municipal Corporation officials. He stressed the importance of deploying adequate manpower and machinery at critical points to prevent inconvenience to residents caused by waterlogging.
The DC highlighted that the robust arrangements had been made across Jalandhar to tackle waterlogging. All disposal pumps had been activated and he inspected various pumping stations to ensure their optimal functioning. Additional pumping sets had been kept on standby to ensure quick disposal of rainwater as needed.
Dr Aggarwal assured the public that all preventive measures were in place to maintain smooth traffic flow and minimise disruptions during heavy rainfall. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to keeping the city free from waterlogging, aiming to eliminate any potential waterborne diseases during the monsoon season.
Meanwhile, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Jasbir Singh supervised similar efforts in municipal councils of Bhogpur, Adampur, Noormahal and Kartarpur, ensuring effective rainwater drainage in these areas as well.
