Jalandhar: Citizens and officials unite for ‘Cleanliness is Service’ programme

Jalandhar: The Municipal Corporation of Phagwara organized the “Ek Deewar Anek Haath” event at the Waste to Wonder Park in Phagwara on Monday as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign. Municipal leaders, officials, and citizens gathered to collectively demonstrate unity and responsibility towards cleanliness. The event was inaugurated by Mayor Ram Pal Uppal and Municipal Corporation of Phagwara Commissioner Dr. Akshita Gupta (IAS), who emphasized the importance of community-driven initiatives in building sustainable cities. Their leadership ushered in a day marked by active participation, civic pride, and environmental awareness. Former Cabinet Minister Joginder Singh Mann, Senior Deputy Mayor Tejpal Basra, and Deputy Mayor Vipan Krishna Sood also extended their support to the campaign and reaffirmed the city’s shared commitment to a clean India.
The presence of Assistant Commissioner Anish Bansal, Superintending Engineer Mandeep Singh, Assistant Town Planners, Sanitation Officers, and all Municipal Corporation employees further reinforced the message of interdepartmental cooperation and community solidarity. Addressing the gathering, Mayor Uppal said that initiatives like “One Wall, Many Hands” not only enhance the visual beauty of public spaces, but also remind citizens of their collective responsibility in maintaining a clean and green environment. Commissioner Gupta echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that the campaign highlights how unity among departments and citizens can set new standards in both cleanliness and governance.
