Jalandhar: Case registered against woman travel agent for extortion

Jalandhar: The Lohian Khas police have registered a case against a female travel agent for extortion and kidnapping a young man. SHO Gursharan Singh stated that the accused has been identified as Kartika, a resident of Baba Basta Singh Colony near Gurdwara Takkar Sahib in Tarn Taran. Gurnam Singh, a resident of Gatta Mundi Kasu village, filed a complaint with the police, stating that the accused had known him for a long time and had agreed to send his son, Ajay, to Australia for ₹2 million, which was to be paid after his son’s arrival abroad. The complainant stated that the accused took his son to Kolkata and then to Dubai on October 2nd. He stated that his brother received two WhatsApp calls demanding a ransom of ₹7 million if he wanted his son back, and that he was threatened with death if he did not pay the money. Gurnam stated that the accused, Kartika, was behind the conspiracy. She kidnapped his son for her own selfish reasons and action should be taken against her. A case has been registered against the accused under sections 140(2) (kidnapping for ransom) and 143 (human trafficking) of the BNS.
