Jalandhar: Case filed against villager on charges of fraud

Phagwara: Police have registered a case against a villager on charges of cheating, breach of trust and criminal intimidation. The accused has been identified as Sandeep of Adman village. Harman Preet Singh complained to the police that the accused bought a combine harvester but did not pay the money and threatened him.
‘Drug smuggler’ arrested
Phagwara: Mehatpur police have arrested a ‘drug smuggler’ for selling narcotic pills. 120 pills were recovered from the possession of the accused Gurmeet Singh alias Meeta, a resident of Umrewal village. A case has been registered against the accused.
Bike rider dies in accident
Phagwara: A youth riding a motorcycle died on the spot after being hit by a speeding tractor near Darvesh village on Phagwara-Nakodar road on Sunday night. The tractor driver fled leaving the motorcyclist and the deceased in a pool of blood. Dharmendra, a youth of village Athauli, was brought to the local civil hospital where doctors declared him dead. Police have registered a case.
