The meeting discussed burning traffic issues related to autorickshaws in the city, resulting in several important decisions aimed at improving the overall traffic system. A committee for auto drivers will be formed under the supervision of the district administration to streamline operations and ensure compliance of rules.
It will be made mandatory for all drivers to hold a valid driving license to enhance accountability and road safety. It will also be mandatory for all auto drivers to undergo police verification, aimed at strengthening safety and trust in public transport. To improve transparency, a unique QR code containing important information about the driver and the autorickshaw will be affixed on each vehicle. In addition, uniforms with nameplates will be made mandatory to make the appearance of auto drivers professional. Emphasising the importance of these measures, Swapan Sharma said that these are important steps towards relieving traffic congestion and ensuring the safety of both drivers and passengers. The new policies are expected to significantly improve the traffic scenario, making the city roads safer. The meeting concluded with a consensus on the need for these initiatives, with auto union leaders expressing their support and commitment to the new rules.
