Jalandhar: Aina won gold medal in badminton

Jalandhar: Aina Chopra, a student of St. Soldier Divine Public School, won the gold medal in the Under-11 Girls Doubles in the District Badminton Championship held at Raijada Hansraj Badminton Stadium. Group Chairman Anil Chopra and Vice Chairperson Sangeeta Chopra appreciated her and wished her a bright future.

Slogan Writing Competition

Inter-school Sahodaya Slogan Writing Competition was held at Swami Sant Das Public School, Phagwara. Around 45 schools participated in this competition in which Bani Bajaj of La Blossom School got the first position in Category 1. Armaan of Innocent Hearts School got the second position and Taruna of Lala Jagat Narayan DAV School got the third position. Pawan Bari of Kamla Nehru Public School got the consolation prize. In Category 2, Vanshika Rattu of Shri Hanumat International Public School, Mandeep Kaur of Dips Tanda, came first, Simar Rayat of Doaba Public Senior Secondary School came second and Simranjit Kaur of Cambridge International School, Nakodar came third and Simranjit Kaur of Cambridge International School, Nakodar won the consolation prize. Dips, Tanda won the overall trophy.
Tiranga Yatra
M.R. International School, Adampur is taking out a ‘Tiranga Yatra’ on the occasion of 78th Independence Day on Wednesday. The procession will start from the canal (Ram Nagar Point) and pass through MES Road, Railway Road, Main Road and end at Police Station, Adampur. The event will be attended enthusiastically by the students and parents are also invited to join and witness this patriotic celebration.
District Skating Championship
Roller skater Amarveer Singh of class VIII of Swami Sant Das Public School displayed exemplary sportsmanship by securing the top position on the skating track. Amarvir Singh won gold medals in two major competitions- inline 1000m and 500+D inline competition. He participated in the 24th District Roller Skating Championship organised by the District Roller Skating Association at Police DAV Public School, Jalandhar on July 30-31.

National Librarian’s Day

The Library Club of Montgomery Guru Nanak College of Education celebrated ‘National Librarian’s Day’ on the college campus. College Librarian Satinderbir Kaur made the college students aware about the history behind this day and its importance for education and society. A poster making competition on the topic ‘Importance of Library’ was organised in the college library. In this competition, Sehajpal secured first position and Deepinder Kaur secured second position. The aim of organising this event was to connect the students with the college library.

First Sanskar Ceremony Held

The first Sanskar Ceremony for the academic session 2024-25 was organised at Sant Baba Bhag Singh International School, Khiyala. The ceremony was conducted by Baba Janak Singh, School Principal Ranjit Singh, Vice Principal Baljit Singh and Head Coordinator Sarabjit Kaur. The ceremony began with shabad. The newly elected student council representatives started the march past and announced the names of the newly elected head girl and head boy of the session 2024-25. The student council took an oath to uphold the school motto. The principal congratulated the students and asked them to remain fair and honest in leadership, unity, discipline and ethics. The ceremony concluded with the speech of the newly elected head girl Sucheta.

Extension lecture organised

The NSS units of Hindu Kanya College, Kapurthala organised an extension lecture on Union Budget 2024-25. Resource person Richa Arora, who is a chartered accountant, apprised the students of the salient features of Budget 2024-25 such as tax slabs, Kisan Credit Scheme and schemes for youth development. She encouraged the students to get acquainted with all the proposals presented in the Union Budget. Dr. Amanjyoti, Programme Officer of NSS Unit expressed her gratitude to the resource person for his informative session.
Traffic Awareness Programme
To spread traffic awareness at Innocent Hearts, Traffic Education Cell organized an awareness seminar for school bus drivers under Safe School Vehicle Scheme. The seminar was organized as per the directions of Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma. All the drivers and conductors were made aware about Safe School Vehicle Scheme under the leadership of ADCP Traffic Amandeep Kaur, ACP Traffic Aatish Bhatia, SI Ranjit Singh and ASI Shamsher Singh.
2 Day Workshop on Puppet Making
Khalsa College of Education, Ranjit Avenue, Amritsar organized a two day workshop on “Puppet Making”. Principal Mandeep Kaur extended a warm welcome to renowned calligrapher Sanjay Kumar. Sanjay introduced the students to the basics of puppetry, its history and significance in education. On the second day of the workshop, the students learnt advanced techniques of puppetry, including puppet operation, voice modulation and storytelling.
