Jalandhar: A man has been arrested on charges of raping a minor.
Phagwara: Lohian Khas police have arrested a man on charges of raping a minor. The accused has been identified as Suraj Verma, a resident of Talwandi Chaudhary village in Kapurthala. The victim’s father complained to the police that the accused assaulted and raped his minor daughter and continued to harass her even after committing the crime. A case has been registered against the accused under the POSCO Act-2012.
Case registered against several people for theft
Phagwara: Bilga police have registered a case against two people for stealing household items. The accused have been identified as Shindu Singh and his brother Bindu, residents of Burj Hassan village. Sukhwant Singh, a resident of the same village, complained to the police that the accused had stolen household items from his house. Further investigation is underway.
Case registered against a person for bike theft
Phagwara: Nurmahal police have registered a case against an unknown person for stealing a motorcycle. Shiv Ram, a resident of Sanghejagir village, complained to the police that he had parked his motorcycle (PB-08-EZ-3712) outside his nursery on December 7, from where it was stolen. A case has been registered against the unknown accused.
Woman dies in accident
Hoshiarpur: A woman died in a road accident while her husband was injured. Tajinder Singh, a resident of Bahla village, told the police that his father Nirmal Singh and his wife Surinder Kaur were returning to their village from Garhdiwala on a scooter. A bus hit them near Sarhala. His parents were admitted to the hospital. His mother died during treatment. The police have registered a case.
Case registered against two people for gang rape
Phagwara: Nakodar Sadar police have registered a case against two people for gang-raping a minor. The accused has been identified as Vansh, a resident of Chania village. The Government Railway Police had registered a case under the POSCO Act in this regard in September, but since the crime took place in the Nakodar Sadar area.
Drug trafficker arrested
Phagwara: Mehatpur police have arrested a man on charges of selling heroin and narcotic pills. Ten grams of heroin and 40 pills were recovered from the accused, Jaspal Singh, a resident of Bute Dian Chhanna village.
