Jalandhar: A 9-year-old boy fell into a ditch while flying a kite and died.

Jalandhar: A nine-year-old boy tragically died after falling into a 10-foot-deep ditch dug by a farmer in the Suranussi area on the outskirts of the city. The victim, Shubham, was trying to retrieve a kite that had gotten stuck near the fields. He was unaware that he was walking towards the water-filled ditch and met a tragic end. Yesterday was Basant Panchami, and it rained until the afternoon, so kites could not be flown during the day. As the sun began to set, children started coming out with their kites. Shubham had also gone out with his friends for the same purpose. When the incident occurred, Shubham’s friends realized what had happened.
However, it is being reported that they were too scared to tell anyone at home and remained silent about it until his body was found by the police this morning. Shubham’s family searched for him until late last evening, after which they finally informed the police. A team from Division Number 1 police station recovered his body from the ditch this morning. It is being reported that the farmer had dug the ditch to prevent his crops from being flooded. He had channeled all the rainwater from his fields into this ditch. Shubham’s uncle, Vikas Kumar, demanded action against the farmer for alleged negligence and for not putting up any warning signs around the ditch for passersby. SHO Rakesh Kumar said that the child’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination. He added that no FIR has been registered and the police have started an investigation into the incident.
