Jalandhar: 54 trains cancelled, 37 stopped midway, passengers in trouble

Jalandhar: Due to ongoing repair work near the Ladowal railway track, railway authorities have cancelled 54 trains and halted 37 mid-way till January 8. The disruption has caused a lot of inconvenience to passengers, especially those whose trains were halted mid-way at Ludhiana and could not go to Jalandhar or Amritsar. Passengers travelling to Delhi via Swarn Shatabdi or Shane-Punjab trains were left with no option but to take buses or taxis to continue their journey. People returning by these trains and not knowing about the halt ahead of time had to take cabs from Ludhiana, carrying heavy luggage.

Many passengers had to change their travel plans, leading to a rush at the railway station to cancel tickets. The affected trains include the Pathankot-Delhi Express, Amritsar-Jamnagar Express, Amritsar-Haridwar Express, Chandigarh-Amritsar Express and Darbhanga-Jalandhar Express. Trains returning from Barmer and Agra have also been halted mid-way at Ludhiana. Repair work is going on between Ludhiana and Phillaur. Apart from this, many trains are running late due to dense fog. Sachkhand Express running between Nanded and Amritsar was delayed by 12 hours yesterday. Similarly, Chhattisgarh Express, Amritsar Express, Malwa Express and Jhelum Express also ran late by three hours.
