Jalalabad: 2 AAP workers injured in firing

Punjab: Tension prevailed outside the Block Development and Panchayat office in Jalalabad after two Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers were injured in a firing incident, which was blamed on Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) workers. Mandeep Singh Brar, a sarpanch candidate from Muhammad Wala, was injured after unidentified persons fired shots in the air. AAP MLA Jagdeep Kamboj Goldy accused Vardev Singh “Noni” Mann, son of former MP Zora Singh Mann, of being involved.

Brar and another injured person were rushed to the Civil Hospital in Jalalabad. Brar, who suffered chest injuries, also blamed Noni Mann. Brar was later referred to Ludhiana due to the severity of his condition. The firing incident took place after an altercation between Brar and Mann after a meeting at the BDPO office over a local land dispute. Police are examining CCTV footage and a case will be registered after statements are recorded. MLA Goldy alleged that the Akalis were resorting to such tactics due to the change in the political environment.
