Jaisalmer man arrested for allegedly conversing on Pakistani number, was working in military area

Jaisalmer: A Jaisalmer man was reportedly arrested for allegedly conversing on Pakistani number, he was working in the military area earlier further reports added.

According to sources, the Military Intelligence (MI) has detained a 30-year-old man identified as Jivan Khan, on suspicion of spying for Pakistan. He previously worked in the Jaisalmer military area and was detained following a conversation on a Pakistani number.

It is worth mentioning that, today he will be sent to JIC for joint interrogation by all security agencies.

The SP of Jaisalmer Abhishek Shivhare, told ANI, “One suspicious person has been detained and is being taken for investigation. It has been revealed that he communicated with someone in Pakistan. His mobile phone is currently under investigation…”

The SP further added on the Jaisalmer man’s arrest, “Other agencies have also been instructed to verify him through their private contractors… He worked as a cook for a long time and is currently employed at a hotel… We are also instructing companies here to conduct police verification through their private labourers and contractors.”

Recently on August 13, Mahendra Prasad, a contractual manager of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) Guest House near Chandan Field Firing Range in Jaisalmer, was arrested on Tuesday by Rajasthan’s CID Intelligence on charges of spying for the Pakistani intelligence agency ISI and sending confidential and strategic information of the country across the border to Pakistan.

Prasad will be presented in court, where he will be taken on remand, and further interrogation will be conducted.

Inspector General of Police CID (Security), Rajasthan, Jaipur, Dr. Vishnukant, said that keeping in mind the upcoming state-level Independence Day celebrations, Rajasthan CID Intelligence is constantly monitoring the possible anti-national and subversive activities carried out by foreign agents in the state.
