IUML: BJP using Lord Ram for political gains

Kozhikode: IUML state president Panakkad Syed Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal has said that BJP is misusing Lord Ram for political gains. While inaugurating the Maharally organized by Muslim Youth League here on Sunday, he said that Lord Ram is respected by everyone.

“The IUML is not against Ram Mandir, but the party is exposing the political game played by the BJP. Those who are ruling the party are spreading hatred and using the Ram temple for this purpose,” Thangal said.

He said that to maintain democracy in the country, India Front will have to be strengthened. He said, “If all democratic forces join hands, the goal of defeating BJP will be achieved.”

Leader of Opposition V D Satheesan congratulated IUML for taking a wise decision on the Ram Temple issue.

“The party could have fallen prey to extremist elements. But the leadership of Sadiq Ali Thangal and PK Kunhalikutty never allowed this and they followed the tradition of Panakkad Syed Muhammad Ali Shihab Thangal in this regard,” he said. Satheesan said that both BJP and CPM are trying to weaken the Congress.

He said, “BJP’s goal is Congress-free India and the state unit of CPM is also working in the same direction.”

Satheesan said, IUML is a reliable partner of the UDF. Telangana Panchayati Raj Minister Dansari Anasuya, IUML leader PK Kunhalikutty, ET Muhammad Basheer, Dr MK Munir and KM Shaji were among those who spoke.

Youth League president Panakkad Syed Munawar Ali Shihab Thangal, general secretary PK Firoz and treasurer P Ismail led the rally that started from Sarovaram.
