ITEP admission process begins in Odisha; classes to start from August 1.

Odisha: The admission process for the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) for the 2026–27 academic session is set to begin. The state’s Higher Education Department has issued an official notification inviting applications from eligible students. Interested candidates can apply online via the SAMS portal.
According to the notification, the application process will run from June 20 to July 5. Subsequently, the first merit list under the selection process will be released on July 10. The department has clarified that the admission process will be conducted entirely based on prescribed academic standards and examination results.
Admission to this programme will be based on the marks secured in the National Common Entrance Test (NCET)-2026, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). This examination is considered crucial for admission to teacher training programmes at the national level.
The Higher Education Department stated that classes for the 2026–27 academic session under the ITEP programme will commence on August 1. The department aims to provide high-quality, modern training in the teaching sector through this programme, thereby better preparing future teachers.
ITEP is a four-year integrated course specifically designed to strengthen teacher education. The programme provides students with training in subject expertise and teaching skills alongside general education.
The state government believes that such programmes will improve the education system and increase the availability of qualified teachers. It is also expected to enhance the quality of education at both primary and secondary levels.
The application process via the SAMS portal has been made digital and transparent to ensure a hassle-free experience for students. The department has urged students to apply on time and correctly upload all necessary documents.
Education experts believe that the NCET-based admission system will make the selection process fairer and more standardized, providing equal opportunities to talented students across the country. Overall, the ITEP program is being viewed as a significant step in the field of teacher education in Odisha, one that will help steer the education system in a new direction in the coming years.
