Is Mapusa’s Morod the new dumping ground for garbage?

It appears that no one is interested in solving the severe garbage crisis that has gripped Mapusa with slogans everywhere such as Swacch Bharat but Goa continues to remain ‘non-Swacch’ and Morod in Mapusa is waiting for a tragedy to strike.

Large heaps of garbage has been dumped beside the transformer here opposite the Registrar office. It is just a matter of time for any explosion to take place. Large number of vehicles are also parked there. The spot is used to answer nature’s call by many migrants and shopkeepers who are bearing and putting up with the stink but do not wish to come forward and complain for fear of being targeted by the municipality.

It is therefore high time, the municipality pulls up its socks and ensures the entire town remains clean. Transformers in particular must be insulated from such high potential risks
