IPL CSKvMI: Mumbai gave a target of 140 to Chennai
Chennai (IANS). Mumbai Indians, who successfully chased a target above 200 in the last two matches, could manage only 139 runs for eight wickets in front of the accurate bowling of Chennai Super Kings in the IPL match on Saturday.
For Mumbai, only three batsmen Nehal Wadhera 64, Suryakumar Yadav 26 and Tristan Stubbs 20 could reach double figures. Nehal hit eight fours and a six in his innings of 51 balls. Suryakumar hit three fours in 22 balls and Stubbs hit two fours in 21 balls.
Chennai captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who went to bowl first after winning the toss, once again made accurate use of his bowlers. For the first time in the Powerplay, he bowled with his fast bowlers. On the other hand, playing Mathisha Pathirana in difficult times can prove to be difficult for anyone. Mathisha Pathirana took three wickets for just 15 runs in four overs. Deepak Chahar and Tushar Deshpande got two wickets each. One wicket came in the part of Ravindra Jadeja.
Skipper Rohit Sharma not getting into the opening was beyond comprehension. However, he had to come out to bat early as number three and was dismissed without opening the account for the second consecutive match. After losing their top three wickets for just 14 runs in the third over, the Mumbai team could not make a comeback and reached 139 with Nehal Wadhera’s half-century.
