Investigation of murder, robbery cases: EPS accuses police department

Tamil Nadu : AIADMK general secretary and leader of opposition Edappadi K. Palaniswami has alleged that people not involved in murder and robbery cases are being arrested so that they can be resolved quickly. In this regard, he issued a statement on Friday: With the aim of disposing of murder cases as quickly as possible under the DMK rule, the real culprits are being spared and those who have no connection with the crime are being arrested in a hurry. There is also a growing trend of putting them in jail. Incidents of murder, robbery, sexual assault, drug trafficking and sexual harassment have become common since Chief Minister M.K. Stalin became the Chief Minister. Elderly people living alone are being killed and their valuables including jewelry are being looted. Are the 11 innocent? The police investigating the murders in Chennimalai and Ottankuttai have already arrested 11 people and charged them with murder. Since then, 3 people have been arrested and have confessed to the crime. This raises the question whether the 11 arrested persons are innocent.
The police, which has failed to nab the real culprits in various criminal cases, is trying to close the matter as soon as possible by implicating those who are not involved in the case. All this will be exposed when the AIADMK government comes to power. He said whoever has committed a crime on the orders of the DMK rulers will be brought to justice.
