International Women’s Day celebrated on the theme “Inclusion”.

Dibrugarh: Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL) celebrated International Women’s Day on the theme “Inclusion of Women” on Friday. BCPL celebrated a week-long event as part of Women’s Day celebrations. On this occasion, Dr. Naseem Farheen Akhtar, Associate Professor and former Head, Department of English and Director, Incharge UGC Center for Women’s Studies, Dibrugarh University was also present as the resource person in the program organized for the spouses of BCPL employees. At Gymkhana Club, Dibrugarh. She addressed concerns and issues related to women.

Furthermore, Dr. Dhrubjyoti Bhuiyan, Associate Professor, Department of Psychiatry, Assam Medical College and Hospital, was invited as the resource person to address the women employees of BCPL on this year’s theme. They specifically addressed issues on a person’s mental health and well-being.

BCPL Managing Director Pranjal Changmai, Director (Finance) Prithviraj Dash, General Manager (Chemicals & Human Resources) Pradeep Rawal and other senior officials were also present at the event. Pranjal Changmai, Managing Director (BCPL) while addressing the gathering spoke on the immense contribution of women in various fields and how women employees in BCPL are contributing equally with their male colleagues. General Manager (Chemicals and Human Resources) Pradeep Rawat also emphasized on the role and responsibilities of women. She also explained how society should abandon its stereotypical notions related to women and how women can choose to challenge.

An awareness program on cancer and palliative care was organized on this occasion. On this occasion, Dr. Gayatri Gogoi Associate Professor, AMCH Dibrugarh, cancer researcher and famous writer Dibrugarh was present.

Apart from this, all women employees of BCPL donated some items for the patients with mental problems run by Jagriti Sammilita Unnayan Kendra located near Godapani flyover near Dibrugarh University. The program proved to be a very enriching and gratifying experience for the women staff as it provided a platform to interact with the residents of the “Home for the Homeless” as well as share success stories and challenges.
