Indore: Pipeline leak mixes sewer water with drinking water, 3 dead, 100 sick

Madhya Pradesh: A leak in the main drinking water pipeline in Bhagirathpura has led to a sewage crisis, mixing with household water supplies. The problem has become life-threatening, with three officially confirmed deaths, although locals report seven. More than 100 people are still hospitalized in various hospitals in the city. The incident occurred in the constituency of Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya and is under administrative and political investigation.
The discovery of a leak point under a public toilet near a police station has raised suspicions that sewage has entered the drinking water pipeline. Municipal Commissioner Dilip Kumar Yadav ordered immediate repairs.
Following CM Mohan Yadav’s strict instructions to punish those responsible, District Collector Shivam Verma confirmed strict action: Zonal Officer Shaligram Sitole and Assistant Engineer Yogesh Joshi have been suspended, while Sub-Engineer in Charge (PHE) Shubham Srivastava has been immediately dismissed from service.
