IndiGo fined Rs 1.20 crore

Mumbai: IndiGo fined ₹1.20 crore: The Civil Aviation Ministry came down heavily on IndiGo and Mumbai Airport in connection with the viral video of passengers eating food on the tarmac and imposed a heavy fine on them. Mumbai Airport will have to pay a fine of ₹90 lakh, while IndiGo will have to pay a fine of ₹1.20 crore. Air India and SpiceJet were also fined separately for the violations.

IndiGo has been penalized by regulator BCAS (Bureau of Civil Aviation Security); Fines of ₹30 lakh and ₹60 lakh were imposed on Mumbai airport by DGCA and BCAS respectively. DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) has imposed a fine of Rs 60 lakh on CSMI Airport, Mumbai (MIAL) in connection with a video of passengers eating food on the tarmac at the airport that went viral on social media. DGCA says the reply show cause notice was received on 17.01.2024 and was not found satisfactory as the response submitted by MIAL shows that they have failed to comply with the safety requirements prescribed in Air Safety Circular 04 of 2007.
