India’s name shines at the Commonwealth Games; Preeti wins gold

Glasgow: In the final held at SEC Hall 5 on Saturday, India’s Preeti delivered a stellar performance to win the gold medal in the women’s 54kg boxing event at the 2026 Commonwealth Games. She defeated Canada’s S.S. Delgado via a unanimous 5-0 decision.
Preeti maintained her dominance right from the start of the bout. All five judges awarded her 10-9 scores across all three rounds, resulting in an impressive 30-27 victory. She also scored a knockdown against her opponent during the match, further demonstrating her superiority over the Canadian boxer.
Throughout the contest, the Indian boxer displayed excellent footwork, rapid combinations, and tactical discipline, leaving Delgado with no opportunity to stage a comeback. The judges unanimously appreciated her aggressive yet controlled style, marking one of India’s most magnificent boxing victories at the Games.
