India’s GDP grew 6.2% in the third quarter – government data

Delhi Delhi. India’s economic growth rate declined to 6.2 percent in the third quarter of 2024-25, mainly due to the poor performance of the manufacturing and mining sectors. According to data released by the National Statistical Office (NSO) on Friday, the Indian economy registered a growth of 6.2 percent in the third quarter of the current financial year (October-December 2024), as against 9.5 percent in the same period a year ago. The Indian economy grew at 5.6 percent in the July-September quarter of this financial year.
The NSO has projected the country’s growth rate for 2024-25 at 6.5 percent in its second advance estimate of national accounts. In its first advance estimate released in January 2025, it had projected a growth of 6.4 percent for the current financial year. The NSO also revised GDP growth for 2023-24 to 9.2 percent from the earlier estimate of 8.2 percent.
