In UP, a woman married her brother-in-law in a mass marriage to take advantage of the government scheme.

Jhansi: A woman allegedly married her sister’s husband in a mass wedding ceremony in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. Reportedly, she took such a step to claim the benefits of a government scheme.

According to reports, the woman married her sister’s husband with the consent of her family after the man she was supposed to marry did not come to the wedding venue.

A woman named Khushi took part in mass marriage and tied the knot with her brother-in-law to avail the benefits of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mass Marriage Scheme.

According to reports, a mass wedding was organized on Tuesday, where a total of 12 couples got married.

It is noteworthy that under the Chief Minister Mass Marriage Scheme, a couple will be given Rs 51,000, out of which Rs 35,000 will be sent to the bride’s bank account. While the couple is given Rs 10,000 for gifting and Rs 6,000 for arranging the ceremony.

After the incident came to light, District Social Welfare Officer Lalita Yadav said that orders have been given to investigate the matter and if the man and woman are found guilty, action will be taken. Reportedly, Khushi has taken back all the gifts and other material.

Let us tell you here that this is not the first time that people have been caught doing fake marriages to avail the benefits of government schemes in UP. Earlier, a video of a mass wedding had gone viral on the internet in which several brides were seen garlanding themselves.

Investigation was started after the clip went viral. However, investigation revealed that the mass marriage was organized at Maniyar Inter College in UP’s Ballia district on January 25.
