Impact of technologies at the 32nd Convergence India and 10th Smart Cities India Expo

Delhi: India’s largest technology showcase, the 32nd Convergence India and 10th Smart Cities India Expo, an initiative of Exhibition India Group (EIG), focuses on transformative technologies and solutions shaping India’s future by building an ecosystem that supports initiatives such as ‘Digital India, ‘Make in India’ and ‘Smart Cities Mission’.

Nitin Gadkari, Hon’ble Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Government of India inaugurated the expo. In a special address, the Hon’ble Minister said, “Today, AI is driving our economy forward. India’s future is linked to technological development, so we need to promote more research and innovations. The good news is that we have the highest number of young engineers driving innovations and future technologies.”

Under the theme “Imagining an AI-powered future today: Innovating for a better tomorrow”, the event was a tech extravaganza and a hub of busy activity, with thousands of visitors and delegates exploring technologies and innovations. They also got an opportunity to experience world-class gadgets including drones, robotics, AR/VR glasses, mobile and digital gaming devices, etc. Meanwhile, the Smart City Pavilion presented an impressive lineup of smart city projects that deliver quality results and improve the lives of millions of citizens.

Chandrika Bahl, Managing Director, Exhibitions India Group, said, “This expo has played a vital role in promoting technological upgradation and national development, besides fostering an inclusive and sustainable ecosystem across the country. We are the most prominent platform for businesses, especially startups, in the digitech space and have launched several brands that have gone on to gain international acclaim. Taking cues from the mood of the industry at this year’s show, we will continue to provide good opportunities to companies and give them a chance to grow and emerge as global brands.” Apart from product launches, investor conferences and collaborations, the venue hosted around 40 conference sessions that discussed a wide range of topics. These sessions saw discussions between industry representatives, innovators, think tanks, and academia to discuss the latest developments and market trends influencing new-age technologies. Moreover, the future for the industry looks bright, as representatives from multiple ministries participated in these discussions!

In addition, strong representation from the Ministry of Electronics and IT, including Abhishek Singh, Additional Secretary and CEO India AI Mission; Sanket Bhondve, Joint Secretary; and Panneerselvam Madangopal, CEO, Startup Hub; Sanjeev Shankar, Joint Secretary, IB, and A. Dhanalakshmi, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology also participated in the constructive interactions, proving the government’s resolve to guide the industry.

Interacting with delegates during a conference session focused on Artificial Intelligence, Abhishek Singh said, “We are building AI-based applications across key sectors that can be scaled, rolled out and deployed at scale. AI policy alignment opens doors to new tools for addressing data bias, machine learning, deepfake detection and watermarking AI-generated content.”
