Illegal sand mining, High Court enumerated conditions in the final hearing
Cuttack: In the case of the illegal sand mining in Odisha, the High Court has enumerated conditions in the final hearing said reports on Tuesday. The Orissa High Court clearly specified that sand laden vehicles cannot ply on the roads from 6 o’clock in the morning to 9 o’clock at night.
The Court has clearly specified that lifting of sand cannot be done with the help of machines, said reliable reports in this regard. The Orissa High Court ordered strict action against violators of the rules specified by the Court while delivering the Judgement.
What measures have been taken to prevent pollution and loss of revenue in these cases was clearly questioned by the Court of law. The Government of Odisha shall submit a affidavit in this regard. The rule shall be strictly enforced and applied from tomorrow that is January 7, 2024
The Orissa High Court had put a blanket ban on sand mining said reliable reports in this regard on January 10, 2024. The High Court again banned sand lifting by machines. An interim stay has been issued on the notification of the Department of Mines.
The notification was issued by the Department of Mines on December 21. It allowed lifting of sand by machines as per requirement. This notification was challenged in the High Court. In response of which the Court said that there will be a ban on sand mining till the next hearing.
