IIT creates ‘real-time dashboard’ to collate road safety data

Tamil Nadu: In an effort to improve road safety management across the country, IIT Madras has developed an ‘Integrated Road Safety Real-Time Dashboard’ to integrate disparate data.

A press release from IIT Madras states: IIT Madras, in collaboration with the Rehabilitation Bioengineering Group (RBG Laboratories) in the Engineering Design Department at IIT Madras, has developed a platform for quality approaches to road safety management.

This information board will showcase road safety strategies adopted by all states and union territories, along with public infrastructure related to administrative structures.

It provides insights by integrating data from multiple sectors and performing real-time analytics. Through this, it can identify risk areas and measure impact. These data can be communicated to states and departments, and activities can be monitored.

It applies technology to make integrated, data-driven decisions in complex public policy domains like road safety.

This Integrated Road Safety Information Board has been adopted by the Odisha government and has proven effective.
