If laser lights are flashed on planes, strict action will be taken: Chennai Police Commissioner

Tamil Nadu: Metropolitan Police Commissioner A. Arun has warned that strict action will be taken if laser lights are shined on aircraft in Chennai.
The Chennai Metropolitan Police Department issued a press release in this regard on Friday:
Chennai Metropolitan Police Commissioner A. Arun has ordered a ban on the use of laser lights, high intensity lights and flying of flying objects including giant hot air balloons and drones in the Meenambakkam airport and its adjoining areas till July 26 as per Section 163 and 14 (2) of the PNS Act in the interest of safety.
If laser lights are shined on aircraft flying in the Meenambakkam airport area and other adjoining areas, there may be technical miscalculations on flight paths and accidents may occur. Due to this, the Chennai Metropolitan Police Department has banned the use of flying objects including laser lights for safety reasons.
In this situation, for a few days some people shone laser lights on the passenger plane arriving at Meenambakkam Airport, which led to an immediate alert from the airport control room and the plane was landed safely. Investigations are underway under the leadership of Meenambakkam Airport traffic officials. Therefore, it is said that strict legal action will be taken against those who shone laser lights on the aircraft by violating the restrictions announced by the Chennai Metropolitan Police Department.
