If a case is filed against the leaders, MV Govindan and others will be accused
Kerala: If police register case against leaders present on stage in road blockade incident for CPM conference at Vanchiyur, party’s State Secretary M.V. Govindan and others will face charges. The High Court has asked why no case was registered against leaders present on stage erected for conference, so police can no longer ‘pretend not to see’ leaders. Vanchiyur police had initially registered case against around 500 people who were known to be involved in the incident.
Even though violation of law was happening in front of our eyes, police initially refused to name the leaders and include them in the case. Palayam area secretary and others were included in the list of accused later on the basis of decision to include them in the case after identifying the accused on the basis of video footage. The High Court intervened when the investigation was going on without touching the State and district leaders. On this, M.V. Govindan’s response was that the CPM was not a party that blocked roads, held meetings or staged protests.
