‘I stood with Mammootty and Mohanlal then, resolved tensions,’ says Suresh Gopi

Union Minister and actor Suresh Gopi attending the general body meet of Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) after 27 years, had grabbed headlines. He had also cast his vote in the polling held to the general body. Suresh Gopi was given a rousing reception and Mohanlal presented him a memento. He was also honoured in the name of AMMA. Suresh Gopi was given the renewed membership card on that day itself.

Suresh Gopi is now talking openly about the reception accorded to him that day and some things about the organization. Suresh Gopi clarified this in an interview given to The New Indian Express. The anchor’s question was about the reception accorded to him.Suresh Gopi’s words
‘Had attended AMMA’s meeting last year also. There was no grand reception. There was a reception last time and this time too. That small reception is their happiness. They think my ministership is like everyone’s status there. It is like an achievement for them too. It was celebrated,’ said the actor.

When the anchor asked about the differences of opinion with the organisation, the actor said that it still stands. They are not differences of opinion; it is a condition. Even when the condition is like that, I had attended all their discussions after 1998. There is a factionalism inside that. There were rumours that Suresh Gopi was scheming a plan to split the organisation. At that time, I went straight to Mammootty and Mohanlal and resolved the tensions.
