Hyderabad: Vows to reclaim Kancha Gachibowli land for IT park

Hyderabad: Even as the next hearing of the Kancha Gachibowli land case was listed for arguments in the Supreme Court, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday reiterated his government’s resolve to set up an IT park on the disputed land after fighting a legal battle if necessary. The development of the financial district helped create 10 lakh jobs and the Knowledge Park next to Durgam Cheruvu helped create five lakh jobs. Accordingly, another IT park was planned to be developed on 400 acres next to the Gachibowli stadium, aiming to create five lakh jobs and attract investments worth Rs 1 lakh crore. However, the initiative faced temporary opposition, he said in his speech after opening the PJR flyover here to traffic on Saturday. “Despite attempts by some individuals to create obstacles, the government will not back down.
The Kancha Gachibowli land will be retained by fighting in court and IT companies will be set up,” Revanth Reddy said. The Chief Minister also stressed that despite the hurdles raised by the opposition parties, Hyderabad will continue to develop under the Telangana Rising 2047 initiative and the city will be transformed into a global city. “Litigations are being filed in courts to stop projects. Should we spare those who are obstructing development under the guise of politics?” he asked the gathering. In the next 100 days, all plans related to the development of the core urban area will be prepared. Citing environmental issues faced by Delhi, Chennai and Bengaluru, the Chief Minister stressed the need to prepare new plans to avert such issues in Hyderabad. Auto drivers should replace their diesel-run vehicles with electric or CNG vehicles. The government will also provide some assistance to such drivers. He reminded that there is no tax on owners who buy electric vehicles in the state.
The Chief Minister said that after the encroachment in N Convention was demolished by Hydra, film actor Nagarjuna voluntarily handed over two acres of land to the government to protect the lake. He reminded that the previous Congress government had approved several institutions and projects, including the Metro. He asked Union minister and BJP state president G Kishan Reddy to list Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s contribution to the state. He demanded that Telangana has elected eight BJP MPs and eight MLAs and they should showcase one project that the Prime Minister has approved for Telangana or Hyderabad. Metros were approved for Bengaluru, Chennai, Andhra Pradesh and bullet train for Gujarat, but discrimination against Telangana continues. He said the Metro extension, Musi riverfront and Regional Ring Road (RRR) projects were not approved. “I will meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the airport tomorrow and request him to approve the Metro, Musi and RRR projects,” he said, appealing that politics may take centre stage in the last year of the current term.
