Hyderabad: Skywalk and cycle track to be built in Hussain Sagar

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has unveiled plans to transform the Hussain Sagar lake with a 10-km-long skywalk and cycle track, aimed at enhancing connectivity and improving visitor experience. The project will connect Khairtabad metro and MMTS stations to key landmarks such as Necklace Road, IMAX, NTR Park, Lumbini Park and Indira Park. The six-metre-wide skywalk will have separate pedestrian and cycle lanes, as well as lifts at key entry points for easy access.

Apart from connectivity, the project also includes food courts, open-air theatres, gaming zones and mini-theatres, making the area more liveable. With an estimated cost of Rs 500 crore, it will generate revenue through ticketed entry and commercial areas as well as promote sustainable urban development. HMDA is currently finalising designs and partnerships for the initiative. Once completed, the skywalk and cycle track will become a landmark attraction, attracting tourists, morning walkers and cycling enthusiasts as well as further boost Hyderabad’s infrastructure.
