Hyderabad: Revanth will ask for funds from Modi in the meeting today
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Tuesday for the first time in his official capacity and discuss a range of issues ranging from outstanding dues on Telangana to the government’s plans for the state.
Reddy’s visit with Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka will also be the first meeting between the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister of Telangana state, after the then CM K. With the change of government in Telangana state after Congress assumed power on December 7, Revanth Reddy has decided to urge Modi to release the pending central funds for Telangana.
Sources said Reddy was suffering from fever and cough for the last three days and was unwell. While he was discharging duties, he was confined to his Jubilee Hills residence. He told that after his condition improved on Monday, he decided to meet the Prime Minister and the time was fixed for 4 pm on Tuesday.
CMO sources said Reddy will seek funds to be released by the Center to Telangana state under the PM Awas Yojana for construction of Indiramma houses for the poor, NREGA, Panchayat Raj and rural development schemes and Central Health Mission schemes. Reddy will also demand release of outstanding amounts of Finance Commission grants and centrally sponsored schemes.
After meeting Modi, Reddy met senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, AICC chief Mallikarjun Kharge and general secretary K.C. Hope to meet. Discussed the party’s preparations for the Lok Sabha elections with Venugopal and others.
The issue of his cabinet expansion and filling of nominated posts is also likely to be discussed.
On his return from Delhi, Reddy will attend a massive Congress rally in Nagpur on December 28 to mark the party’s foundation day celebrations.
