Hyderabad: Nampally exhibition welcomes transgender and gay artisans

Hyderabad: In a historic movement, Nampally’s Industrial Exhibition International inaugurated two stands presenting the creative works of transgender and gay artisans, marking an important step towards inclusion and recognition.

In posts 15 and 16, artisans Padala Nandini, Golapalli Kiran Raj and Sonam displayed their hand-made jute bags and shawls. According to a statement, the artisans thanked Banco de Development de Small Industries de la India (SIDBI) for sponsoring space for their posts at Mandap Swavalamban. Additionally, we recognized Mukund Mala of the Padres Queer Bandhu Association and transgender activist Neetu Nampally for facilitating this occasion.

The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Mayors and Transgender Persons of the Telangana State Government works for the holistic development of transgender persons, as a part of which it provides training for skill development at Durgabai Mahila Vikas Kendra. HASSS (Sociedad de Servicios Sociales de la Archdiocese of Hyderabad) is also training transgender persons in the manufacturing of jute bags.
