Hyderabad: Minor boy kills elderly woman and records dance

Hyderabad: In a gruesome incident, a minor boy who is a migrant labourer allegedly killed an elderly woman and purportedly recorded a video of himself dancing in front of the dead body. Though the incident is believed to have taken place on April 11, it was reported on April 14, when the 17-year-old suspect shared the video with the victim’s relative in Bengaluru. The victim was identified as Kamala Devi (70), a native of Rajasthan, who came to Hyderabad with her husband around 30 years ago in search of livelihood and was living in Krishna Nagar in Kushaiguda. As per information available, Kamala Devi had inherited a few shops from her husband, which provided a good income to the victim and her family. It is learnt that the suspect used to work as an assistant at one of her shops and also helped her in daily chores.
However, Kamala used to allegedly misbehave with him over petty issues. Angered by this, the suspect went to her house around 11.30 pm on April 11 and allegedly attacked her with an iron rod after an argument. He then strangled her with a sari tied to a fan in the bedroom. The suspect then recorded a selfie-video of himself dancing while the victim’s body was hanging from an iron rod. The incident came to light when the suspect himself called a relative of the victim living in Bengaluru and informed him about the murder on Sunday night. On receiving information, Kushaiguda police broke open the door and recovered Kamala’s mutilated body. The body has been sent to Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem. The case is being investigated and efforts are on to nab the suspect.
