Hyderabad: Husband kills woman at birthday party suspecting her of infidelity

Hyderabad: In a shocking incident at Abdullapurmet on the outskirts of the city on Thursday night, a 35-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband. The victim, identified as Sammakka, was a resident of Suryapet district and was living separately in a rented house near her husband’s niece’s house in Abdullapurmet. She is survived by her husband Srinivas, who is a private employee, and their two children. According to initial reports, the couple was having a marital discord, which arose mainly due to Srinivas’ doubts over Sammakka’s fidelity. The dispute had reportedly escalated in recent months, and the couple had informed the elders of both families about their decision to file for divorce.

On Thursday, both Sammakka and Srinivas attended a birthday party organised at the house of Rajeshwari – Srinivas’ niece – to celebrate her daughter’s birthday. After the cake cutting ceremony, Srinivas allegedly snatched the cake cutting knife and stabbed Sammakka multiple times. Sammakka died on the spot due to the serious injuries. The guests present there were shocked and before anyone could understand anything, Srinivas fled from the spot. Abdullapurmet police immediately reached the spot and started investigation. Srinivas was later taken into custody, although his formal arrest was not announced till the time of writing the report. The body has been sent for post-mortem and further legal procedures are underway.
