Hyderabad: Fifteen-year-old boy’s family donates his organs after he was declared brain dead

Hyderabad: The family of Nari Mahesh, a 15-year-old boy from Dupalli in Mahbubnagar, who was declared brain dead, has donated his organs to needy patients. On April 2, Mahesh, who was riding a two-wheeler, collided with a tree. The youth suffered serious injuries in the accident and was rushed to the hospital. When there was no improvement even after emergency treatment, doctors declared Mahesh brain dead on April 4. The youth’s father Nari Govardhan has given consent to donate his organs. Surgeons removed kidneys (2), corneas (2) and liver (1) and allocated them to needy patients under the Jeevandan organ donation initiative. Jeevandan officials thanked the youth’s family members for their decision to save his life.
