Hyderabad: 19 year old girl is going to become a Jain nun

Hyderabad: In a world fascinated by comfort and luxury, 19-year-old girl Yogita Surana chose a different path. This young graduate has decided to give up the rich lifestyle he has inherited and embark on a spiritually transformative journey. Yogita, the middle daughter of a Joyro Chittor, will give up personal luxuries and embrace the simple life of a Jain nun at the “Diksha Mahotsav”, a formal event organized by the Jain community in Hyderabad on January 16. The young man was originally interested in pursuing a scientific career and doing engineering. “However, Diksha attracted me and aroused many thoughts and thinking in me. I I started to differentiate between the materialistic world and the spiritual world, and understood where I belonged. The spiritual world is better because it will provide me with lasting inner peace”, he says. Yogita’s decision to give up the allure of material wealth is not just a personal choice, it is a statement of her commitment to a life of meditation, self-discipline and renunciation. His mother, Sapna Surana, says: “I am satisfied with his choice and support in this transformational path. Although there is an atmosphere of sadness due to attachment, it is a positive step.” His father, Padmraj Surana, says: ”We took our support as a birthday gift and decided to support it.” After the ceremony, Yogita will wear a simple white tunic and give up modern conveniences like fans, lights, toothbrushes and toothpaste. Jain monks and nuns follow unique practices to live a simple and conscious life and avoid traditional bathing as they believe they can harm tiny living beings and waste water. Instead, opt for a sponge bath and use a damp cloth to clean your hands, feet and face. A specific ritual that is observed is called Kaya Klesh.
