Human Rights Commission takes suo moto case against Manu; sends notice to Kerala Cricket Association

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The human rights commission has taken a suo moto case against Manu, Thiruvananthapuram coach of Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) in the sexual abuse case. A notice has been sent to Kerala Cricket Association seeking an explanation into the incident.


The notice asked them to explain the circumstances under which such an incident had happened. Manu has been a coach in the Kerala Cricket Association for the past ten years. The complaint is that the girls were taken to Tenkasi and abused. The disclosure was made by the father of the girl whom he abused. Her father alleged that Manu captured her nude pictures and abused her in the washroom.Manu has been remanded. The girls were abused not only while going for cricket tournaments but also at the KCA headquarters. The accused also assaulted a girl after training in the gymnasium when she went to the washroom.Her father had earlier alleged that he captured the nude pictures of the girl and abused her in the washroom.When the child screamed, he forcibly held her and abused her. Her father also said that his method was to abuse girls after drugging them. He took the children to Tenkasi and abused in this manner. A child woke up in the morning and realized that she was in Manu’s room. She was drugged the previous day and taken to his room.Six girls have presently lodged a complaint against Manu. The police registered his arrest in six cases under the POCSO Act. The girls have stated that they were taken for the cricket tournament in Tenkasi, sexually abused and captured pictures in the hotel.A girl had filed a sexual abuse complaint against him a year ago. The accused was arrested then and a charge sheet was filed in the case. Manu used to regularly take nude and semi-nude pictures of girls on his own phone. He had taken nude pictures saying that he wants to send them to BCCI and KCA to know the body shape. However, neither BCCI nor KCA had asked for such pictures.
