H&UD Principal Secretary reviews key urban projects in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary of the Housing and Urban Development (H&UD) Department today visited Nicco Park today to assess its condition and discuss future development plans.

She also reviewed the restoration progress of Blue Ways on Drain No. 4 near Vani Vihar Padhee later visited the Affordable Housing Project (AHP) at Buddha Vihar, Chandrasekharpur.

Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Rajesh Prabhakar Patil and Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) Vice-Chairman Dr. N. Thirumala Naik were present during the visit along with senior officials of BDA.

During the visit, officials examined the park’s infrastructure with a special focus on Drain No. 10, which runs through the area. They reviewed existing challenges and recent efforts to revitalize the drain. Discussions centered around creating a sustainable and revenue-generating development model that ensures long-term success and aligns with environmental goals.

The visit marked a key step in the park’s redevelopment, aiming to balance ecological preservation with economic growth.

The Principal Secretary also inspected the rejuvenation work of Drain No. 4 near Vani Vihar. Officials briefed her on the master plan and current progress. She emphasized the importance of preserving all existing trees during the project and maintaining proper drainage slopes to support water runoff and groundwater recharge.

Later, she visited the Affordable Housing Project at Buddha Vihar in Chandrasekharpur. There, she reviewed the colony’s infrastructure and interacted with residents. The visit focused on improving sanitation and living conditions.
