HRTC: Inspector had a gala time after handing login details to conductor; 3 suspended.

A major issue regarding the inspection system within the Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) has come to light. An investigation revealed that instead of personally inspecting buses while on duty, certain inspectors handed over their login IDs and passwords to conductors, remaining occupied with other tasks while actual inspections were neglected. Following the exposure of this matter, the corporation’s management took strict action and suspended three inspectors with immediate effect.
Details Revealed During the Investigation
Preliminary inquiries disclosed that the inspectors in question misused the digital login credentials issued for inspections. It is alleged that they provided their user IDs to conductors, creating the appearance that the online inspection process had been completed, even though no actual inspection took place.
This modus operandi not only violated departmental regulations but also cast doubt on the credibility of the inspection system.
Irregularities Detected via Digital Monitoring
According to sources, irregularities in login activities surfaced during a review of the corporation’s digital monitoring systems and records. Officials subsequently launched an investigation, which found the allegations to be substantiated prima facie.
Based on the investigation report, all three inspectors have been suspended, and departmental proceedings have been initiated against them.
HRTC Adopts a Strict Stance
The corporation’s management has clarified that negligence in official duties and the sharing of digital credentials (logins) constitute serious acts of indiscipline. No employee involved in such matters will be spared.
Management has also indicated that if the investigation reveals the involvement of other employees, action will be taken against them as well, in accordance with the rules.
Inspection System to be Further Strengthened
Following this incident, the HRTC has begun preparations to implement additional monitoring mechanisms to make the inspection system more transparent. Future measures will place greater emphasis on the regular review of login usage, digital tracking, and surprise inspections.
Officials state that security measures will be further reinforced to prevent the misuse of technology and ensure accountability. Focus on Passenger Convenience
HRTC states that the objective of the inspection system is to ensure the quality of bus services and ticketing operations, as well as to provide better amenities to passengers. Therefore, any irregularities found during the inspection process will be treated seriously.
The Corporation has instructed all employees to strictly adhere to departmental regulations and to use digital systems responsibly.
