Households in Odisha will not get electricity bills this month, know why

Bhubaneswar: If reports are to be believed, households in Odisha will not get electricity bills this month, there will not even be meter reading! Electricity meter readings will not be taken this month. So the average provisional bill will be given to the user based on the last three months’ bills.
However, it is also worth noting that the electricity providing company TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL) has informed that from the month of March, the bill will be regularized as per the meter reading as usual.
The company further informed that, customers are requested to pay their electricity bills online or at the nearest TPCODL Customer Service Center or TPCODL office.
Apart from this, the company said that users can get discount by paying electricity bill online through Mitra App, Paytm, Amazon Pay, PhonePe, Google Pay, Airtel Payments Bank. A detailed report in this regard is awaited.
In a major relief to the people of Odisha, the Orissa Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) has cut electricity tariffs earlier this month. OERC informed that the retail supply duty in the domestic category has been reduced by 10 paise in each slab. Complete information is given below.
Retail Supply Charges:
Retail supply duty in the domestic category has been reduced by 10 paise in each slab.
Retail supply tariffs of all other categories have not been revised. The tariff of those categories has remained stable for three years including the coming year of financial year 2024-25.
The fixed monthly fee for BPL consumers has been reduced from Rs 80/- to Rs 70/- per month.
Consumers who opt for e-bill will get a discount of Rs 10 per bill.
The premium for green energy tariff has been reduced from 25 paise per unit to 20 paise per unit.
EV charging tariff has been reduced from Rs 5.50 per unit to Rs 5.00 per unit.
Consumers with pre-paid meters will get 4% rebate on pre-paid amount and LT domestic and single-phase general purpose consumers will continue to get 4% digital payment rebate.
Cold storage tariff has been reduced by Rs 1.60 per unit from Rs 4.60 per unit to Rs 3.00 per unit.
Mega Lift Point consumers will get a rebate of Rs 2.00/- per unit and thereafter they will get a reduced tariff of Rs 3.80/- per unit. No demand charge will be imposed.
Rural LT domestic consumers will get a discount of 10 paise per unit on paying the bill by the due date.
LT Industrial (S) and LT Industrial (M) supply consumers will get a rebate of 10 paise per unit for all units consumed if their monthly operational load factor is more than 40% if payment is made within the due date.
MD > Commercial, industrial and consumers provided with 10 kW smart meters are eligible to get TOD rebate of 10 paise/unit in energy charges during solar hours. The above consumers will have to pay TOD surcharge of 20 paise/unit during peak hours. TOD discounts and surcharges will not be applicable during normal hours.

00 am to 4.00 pm – solar hours
After 4.00 PM to 6.00 PM – Normal Time
6.00 PM to 12.00 AM – Peak Hours
After 12.00 midnight and before 8.00 am the next day – normal hours 13.
