‘Honour killing’: Newly married couple shot dead in Hansi, Haryana

Hisar: In a shocking incident in Hansi town of Hisar district on Monday, two assailants shot dead a newly married couple. Tejvir Singh was a resident of Badala village in Narnaund and Meena was a resident of Sultanpur village in Hansi. They were sitting in Lala Hukamchand Jain Park in the morning when two assailants came on a motorcycle, police said. They shot both of them dead and fled from the spot. Police shifted the bodies to civil hospital for post-mortem. Sources said the couple was in a love relationship for the past two years and two months ago they eloped from home to Ghaziabad in UP to get married. Sources said the woman’s family was against their relationship. Police said the two were distant relatives. Tejvir worked in a private company in Noida. Hansi SP Maqsood Ahmed reached the spot. Forensic experts took samples of empty bullet shells. Police have also recovered the keys of a motorcycle from the spot and they are trying to trace its owner. Meanwhile, this double murder has reportedly turned out to be a case of honour killing. Police have registered a case against 11 members of the deceased woman’s family, including her father, uncle and brother.
